Well, after all that has been described here already, this is just stating the obvious. Even though many countries of the world still look up at British education due to its reputation from the old days, and try to introduce all these toxic educational approaches from its current system, they are, luckily for them, still lagging behind in their implementation. School leavers from abroad are still better qualified and educated to a higher level than their British counterparts. No surprise then, that so many, qualified jobs or positions in research and academia are increasingly being taken up by foreigners, often despite their limited knowledge of the English language.

Controlling immigration, with or without Brexit, will only keep away jobseekers who come without a contract. Companies and universities will still be able to hire qualified staff from abroad when needed, just as the USA, Australia or any other country with firmer immigration control do. In the UK this will mean that qualified jobs with still go to foreign applicants if they are better suited for a job, and all indicators seem to suggest that they are, and will keep being, better prepared. Is this the way a state cares for its own citizens ?
